Meet Judge James Kerbow
A Judge Who Knows Our Community, Knows the Law, and Earns Your Trust
Judge James Kerbow is the elected Justice of the Peace for Denton County Precinct 3, which proudly covers Lewisville, Highland Village, Copper Canyon, and parts of Flower Mound. As a fourth-generation Texan and lifelong Lewisville-area resident, James possesses a deep, personal commitment to the community he has called home for his entire life.
Before taking the bench, James built a successful career in property management, where he earned a reputation as a practical problem-solver who knows how to work with people, listen to all sides, and find common-sense solutions. When he was elected to serve as Justice of the Peace, he brought that same neighborly, practical approach to the courtroom—emphasizing absolute fairness, strict professionalism, and unwavering respect for everyone who steps through the court doors.

Statewide Leadership & Education
Judge Kerbow is widely recognized across Texas for his judicial expertise. He has completed over 380 hours of specialized judicial education. His commitment to excellence led him to serve in statewide leadership, including four years as the Chair of the Education Committee representing Texas Justices of the Peace. In this role, James helped shape the curriculum for judges statewide and continues to teach other Justices of the Peace on the complexities of Texas law.
For James, being a judge is about more than just legal procedures. It’s about being a trusted neighbor, giving everyone a fair hearing, and ensuring the hard-working families of Precinct 3 have a dedicated public servant they can always count on. James and his family are proud to call Denton County home, where he is raising his three boys alongside his wife of 13 years.
